Free — CO₂e & leak intervals
F-Gas calculators (UK)
Quick refrigeration maths for Category I revision — CO₂ equivalent, leak-check bands, superheat, subcooling, charge and units. British units first (bar, °C, kg).

CO₂ equivalent (F-Gas)
Mass × GWP ÷ 1000 → tonnes CO₂e (UK reporting style per GOV.UK guidance).
Enter kilograms on the charge label and the refrigerant GWP from the F-Gas register or SDS — the answer is in tonnes CO₂e for leak-check rules.
Leak check interval
From tonnes CO₂e → UK retained Reg 517/2014 mandatory check frequency (standard vs hermetically sealed).
UK bands (Reg 517/2014)
- Below 5 t CO₂e (10 t hermetic): no scheduled mandatory checks — still check when you suspect a leak.
- 5 to under 50 t (10–under 100 t hermetic): at least every 12 months.
- 50 to under 500 t (100–under 1 000 t hermetic): at least every 6 months.
- 500 t or more (1 000 t+ hermetic): at least every 3 months.
Tonnes CO₂e comes from the calculator above — tick hermetic only if the whole charge is in a sealed factory unit.
Calculators are a revision aid only — verify against current GOV.UK, HSE and BS EN 378 before work on site. Not legal or engineering sign-off.
